Food is an interesting topic, that's for sure. I've had all kinds of ideas about food. Where I'm at right now though.... I'm making an effort to never reward myself with food.
Enjoy food, yes. I'd rather like my food than dislike it; but if it's high in the healthy department and low in the tasty department, I'll at least consider eating it. Taking the 'reward' out of food and eating for more of a 'I want to feel good' reason helps make taste not AS crucial.
Other ways I've rewarded myself lately: shellac manicures. Love them! My nails look perfect for 2 weeks straight. Being a nurse takes a toll on your hands--all that hand washing. My nails become weak and peely. Cuticles rip and hurt. Ick. Shellac manicures have increased my quality of life because my hands hurt less. It's nice. )))
Working night shift, I miss out on getting vitamin D the natural way -- sunlight. So I've started taking supplements. That's not really the reward though... My reward is tanning. It's really helped regulate my mood and state of mind. Plus, the awesome thing about tanning, you can stop whenever you want. I don't plan on getting 'brown.' I've been in search of things to help make next winter NOT a mere re-do of last winter. What a horrid time in my life. 3+ weeks without daylight ruins anyone. Yep. Tanning just might be something I can use to help retain my sanity. )) We'll see. Maybe I'll just buy a Happy Light. Lol.
Reward yourself. Always.
Indulgence is a human luxury.
Just don't limit your sources. )))
